Stories of Self-Determination

How do I write a story?

This blog is a place for people with disabilities to write stories about their lives. It is a place where they can write about what they did to get the life they wanted. It is about self-determination.

It can also be about what kind of life you are trying to get, but don’t have yet. You can write a story about what isn’t working for you. Maybe somebody will read it who can help you have the life you want.

These are your stories and you can write them the way you want to write them. You can ask someone to help you write your story. It is your story and you can tell it any way you want to tell it.

You don’t have to include your name in your story if you don’t want to. It would be nice if you did say what state or country you live in. If you have a website or a blog and want to share it, please do.

The stories you write are important and will help others to have self-determined lives too.

You have two choices if you want to write a story:

1. Send an email to Susan at susanfitzm@gmail.com and I will post it as a blog entry. You can send it as an attachment in your email if you want to.

2. Add your story to the blog entry called: WRITE YOUR STORY. You can see it under CATEGORIES.

Mohini, I can’t wait to read your story! Remember nobody will mind if your writing isn’t perfect – what you write about is what is most important. Susan

It’s always good to hear the stories of others as they can be steps to get us to another level in life.
